Suma (Pfaffia sp.) is a Latin American plant that grows predominantly in the Amazon rainforest. It has been used by indigeneous populations for hundreds of years as a general tonic, aphrodisiac, and anti-inflammatory. (Ref. 1 and 2)
In fact, in Latin America people regard this food as suitable "for everything" - meaning that it can help control literally any health-related issue. (Ref. 1)
Suma powder presents a real interest to us as a potent energy-boosting and rejuvenating plant.
It is often referred to as Brazilian ginseng - most likely a tribute to suma's chemical properties that remind us of those of original Asian ginseng species.
Suma is widely considered to be an adaptogen and immuno-modulator which strengthens the immune system on a fundamental level and re-balances it depending on its needs. (Ref. 1 and 2)
Suma has a very high content of phyto-chemicals called saponins, roughly 11% - especially pfaffosides that are only found in this plant. (Ref. 1) Saponins may act as anti-oxidants and general boosters of the immune system.
Take 1g - 2g of suma powder per day, or as otherwise required.
