Detoxify your body - and stay healthy.
There is a consensus in the field of natural medicine & nutritional therapy:
Intoxication of the body contributes to a multitude of health imbalances and often leads to an onset of chronic disorders.
In an ideal world, where there would be no pollution and purely organic food & clean water, our bodies would not be overloaded with toxins and would not have to work hard to remove them.
In real life though, our biological systems have to use up a lot of energy to fight off all sorts of external intruders.
Is there anything we can do to help our bodies with this process? Quite a lot, in fact.
Regular, continuous detoxification is a must for all of us who want to stay healthy and feel great.
Remember, impurities bag up our systems and totally drag them down - this is a major cause of tiredness & chronic fatigue.
You'll find hundreds of different detoxification methods you can take up - some of them are certainly safer than others.
So how does detoxification work anyway?
We would like to advise everyone against undergoing some harsh & radical detox procedures - unless there is a really good justification for it.
Although I personally like to experiment with different ideas - including some drastic detox measures - I would certainly not do it too much too often.
We need to allow our body enough time to deal with "freshly-released" impurities as they may re-contaminate the system and lead to some undesirable consequences.
Like I said above, there are many, many detox ideas you can find around - from simple recommendations on health-related websites to advanced detox programs promoted by famous people.
Whatever detox approach you choose, make sure it is the best one for your own needs.
Here are our recommendations.
Green superfoods are arguably some of the best detoxification agents out there.
They have incredible cleansing properties - they contain large quantities of fibre & chlorophyll, a whole variety of antioxidants, enzymes & unique biological compounds.
Green superfoods alkalize the body and replenish it with vital nutrients which may otherwise be absent in our diets.
They are easy to absorb, completely safe and can be taken alongside any other detox remedies.
Some green powders are stronger than others.
Marine plants, or seaweeds, are another excellent superfood. In this regard, seagreens are one of the best organic seaweed products availbale for deep detoxification.
Adjust the dosages according to your requirements.
There is nothing original in saying that any foods rich in anti-oxidants are great detoxifiers. In this respect, organic fruits & vegetables are surely the order of the day.
Green leafy vegetables are especially valuable for detox purposes.
Make green juices from lettuce, spinach, watercress, kale and anything else you fancy, on a regular basis, and energize your life - you'll never look back.
We discuss this topic in more detail in eating raw fruits & veg here.
We all love herbal teas for their unique flavours & aroma. But it is not quite common yet to relate them to the detox process.
These days, there is a big selection of herbal teas on the market. In fact, many of the blends are specifically promoted as detox teas. A good example is Pukka's Detox blend which contains organic aniseed, cardamom, fennel & licorice root.
But, of course, if you are planning to drink herbal teas for cleansing purposes, you don't have to look for some specific herbs in them.
ALL herbal teas contain numerous bioflavonoids which are strong anti-oxidants and as such will bring a certain degree of purification to the body.
I like to take warm water (sometimes with lemon) first thing in the morning which helps loosen up bowel movements.
Also, drinking warm water throughout the day is good as a nice and gentle regular cleansing exercise.
Culinary herbs & spices have been used for centuries to enhance the taste of food and help keep our bodies clear of toxins.
Many people also use zeolite & pure oxygen supplements as detoxification aides.

We'd like to re-iterate this again: deep but gentle, continuous detoxification is the preferred way forward.
We don't need to wait until we get to a stage of illness to realize that we must take good care of our health - every day.
Prevention is the best course of action.
With all the selection of detox products on the market, many people may feel overwhelmed on what to choose and where to start.
